Depending on the time and day, you may have to cross the water during high tide.

Located along Sanibel Avenue, Causeway Beach is ideal for bringing your dog as long as you keep it on a leash. We love that the water is very shallow and there are almost no waves, so it’s perfect for your dog to wade through. Parking is free and in most places you can park your car by the water, which makes it super convenient not having to lug all your gear down to the beach. There are also picnic tables and grills.

Dogs are allowed on any public beach in Fort Myers Beach as long as they are on a leash. However, dogs are not allowed on private beaches and some beach establishments do not allow dogs. Be sure to look for any signs.

Sanibel Lighthouse Beach is a dog-friendly beach and you can bring your fur babies as long as they are on a leash no longer than 6 feet. The beach also has several trails that are perfect for a nature walk with your dog or just a walk around the historic lighthouse with your dog.  

Parking is $5 per hour and there are restrooms and outdoor showers on the beach. There is also a fishing pier and plenty of picnic tables.
