Accommodation in Sakleshpur is a paradise not only for humans but also for dogs. The host families have their own adorable dogs, so if your furry friend is the social type, you know they’ll love it. The property is set on 10 acres with six cottages to choose from. The rooms are spacious and equipped with basic amenities. The lodge also offers home-cooked meals for you to enjoy.

Dogs are the first to arrive on this special holiday. Owning a dog (you can bring a horse, cow or other animal) is almost a must to visit Mandal Woods, which is located in the Western Ghats and covers more than 1,000 acres. Here your dog can get into every nook and cranny, roam freely without a leash and even jump on the sofas. The staff, many of whom have worked at the property for decades, will wash and feed your dog (all dog-related expenses here are free). Mandal Woods can only accommodate three groups of guests at a time, and if a guest has a problem with dogs, it should be taken up with them, not your dog.

An Instagram addict, she’s also a chef, foodie, and comic book nerd who watches The Simpsons every week. Has a new pet-friendly address: Aurika Coorg by Lemon Tree Hotels. Last week, my husband Sharath, myself and our dogs Raju and Aishu visited Aurika Coorg, a luxury pet-friendly resort in Coorg, set amidst 45 acres of rainforest and coffee plantations in the Western Ghats. And the dogs were amazed by what they saw and experienced. Large areas of greenery, lots of space to run and lots of smells, endless treats and toys, delicious food and comfort food. If they could write this review, they would be very funny, but this is my opinion as a recent pet parent and traveler to one of the luxury pet friendly resorts in Coorg. resorts pet friendly resorts near bangalore. First a little background on how we recently became pet parents. A few years ago, when COVID suddenly took over our lives and the first lockdown began, my husband and I joined the pet-loving community to help care for indie dogs on the streets. So we found some very cute puppies lost in the park without their mother. They were barely a few weeks old and we took turns feeding each other. One of them was a strong and playful puppy and one of our friends named him Raju as it was his favorite name for all dogs.

Raju became increasingly mischievous and clumsy and soon became the happy but powerful Alpha of the group. Unfortunately, tragedy struck and when he was barely six months old, he was beaten by bullies in the middle of the night and apparently broke his spine. Raju, a super psychic boy, was paraplegic and very sick. Many vets told us to put it down. Finally one of them agreed to the operation and we brought him home with the hope that one day he will walk and run like a normal dog. However, two years later, although he can stand and walk a little, he is semi-paralyzed and cannot support himself, but runs in a wheelchair that we bought for him. And Raju is a bit of a traveller, he has been to beaches and jungles and now he is enjoying a great vacation in the hills. His little brother Aishu was always with him and he also started staying with us in recent months and this trip was his first time away from home.

Aurika Coorg talks about animal friendship. This pet-friendly resort in Coorg has more than 95 dogs and cats as guests, including 30 Indians. Most pet-friendly resorts discriminate against Indians and prefer cute, furry breeds. They also have a number of limitations. However, Aurica was hardly out of Coorg’s rooms and animal enclosure.

Raju also has special needs as he is a paraplegic dog. Although we have taken her to boutiques in Ooty and Bengaluru and pet-friendly resorts near Bengaluru, we were a bit worried about whether she would be comfortable here. But Aurica made sure Korg felt right at home from the start. Animals are our guests is their mantra, and they wear their pet-friendliness on their collars, as evident from the board entrance plaque of General Manager Sanjay Pandita welcoming us. As we had our welcome drink, Raju and Aishu served sweets to welcome them. We have even registered them as pets with specific details at the time of booking.

The rooms had pet beds, food and toys and they loved it. All are carefully designed with pet safety and comfort in mind. There were also bowls to give them food and water. Although dog meals are personalized, they can sit with you at certain tables in the restaurant.

The staff treated their pets so lovingly that Raju and Aishu felt very comfortable there. They walked with us, ran, rolled in the grass, sunbathed, chased squirrels and ducks, looked out over the wide green of their balconies, curled up to sleep and dreamed of other adventures.

But Aurika Coorg is much more than a luxury resort for animals. Spread over 45 acres, the aesthetically designed property offers you scenic views of the Western Ghats rainforests and coffee and spice plantations. Whether it’s an art installation in the reception area or an art drift used to decorate some furniture, every piece of property tells a story. You can go bird watching, nature walks, visit plantations and even try your hand at coffee making.

Birds are everywhere, in gardens, planters, and as art in rooms and hallways. I went birding with in-house naturalist Ganesh, a Coorg birder for over two decades and a great storyteller. ask him
