Dog-friendly Resorts Texas Hill Country – One of my most frequent questions is if the beautiful places I visit in Texas are dog friendly! One of my favorite things about Hipcamp is that they actually have a “pets allowed” filter that you can apply while searching for camping and glamping sites on their website or app. This makes finding pet friendly glamping really easy!
Dog-friendly Resorts Texas Hill Country
Is this the best treehouse in Texas? Located near Bastrop in Paige, Texas, The Hobbit’s Nest Treehouse is a true escape in the woods. As you might have guessed, the property is Lord of the Rings themed with lots of little touches to bring the Shire to life.

And best of all, they’re one of the most dog-friendly places you’ll ever find. In fact, the owners live nearby and their two dogs roam the grounds and are sure to come up to the treehouse to say hello!
There is no Wi-Fi here, but there is a barbecue, a toilet, a shower and a small fridge, so I recommend cooking on site and really turning it off. The sounds of nature are at their peak here too, especially with their “frog chorus”, which you will hear from the beautiful lily pond overlooking the treehouse.
This modern attraction is located on the outskirts of Dripping Springs in the middle of the Texas Hill Country. Options here at Lucky Arrow Retreat (get $10 off Hipcamp for new users) include yurts, cabins, and log cabins, depending on the size of your party and what kind of experience you’re looking for. If you really want to enjoy yourself, yurts are the best choice for you as shown below.
Each can accommodate up to two guests and has access to a shared bathroom nearby. For something a little more hotel-like, there are Courtyard Cabins, Breezeway Cabins and Veranda Houses, each of which sleeps up to four people and has its own bathroom.
Texas Hill Country Resorts: Romantic Getaways In Texas — 2021
Although this property is dog and cat friendly, there is a $150 pet fee, which you can do when you book at the Hipcamp checkout (which also ensures accommodation in one of the pet-friendly rooms.
If you’ve ever wanted to sleep in a converted shipping container, then the FlopHouze Shipping Container Hotel in Round Top, TX is what you’ve been looking for. Sit around the fire and enjoy some great stargazing, take a dip in their dumpster pool, and head into town for lots of antique shops.
If you really want to have fun, book your stay during the Round Top Antiques Fair (just book early because people come from all over the world for it!). And yes, pets are allowed for free!
Located near Bastrop, The Reserve at Greenleaf has four luxury yurts to choose from. But if you’re bringing your pet, their designated pet yurt is The Copper Lily (get $10 off Hipcamp for new users).
Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort & Spa
The yurt can accommodate up to 4 guests and features amenities such as a full-sized private bathroom and access to miles of hiking trails. They even offer a guided walking tour for an additional $25 upon departure. They also have things like kayak rentals on request!
3232 Ranch offers unique Texas Hill Country lodging with cabin rentals, air-conditioned tents, campsites, and even a gypsy wagon (get $10 off Hipcamp for new users). The property is also conveniently located in Johnson City, just 1.5 miles from Pedernales Falls State Park, so it’s perfect if you want to hike and explore the state park during your stay.
My favorite is the Bird House, their small carriage room, although I would only recommend it for one stay (+dog). It’s quite small! However, if you are looking for something bigger, cabins are a good option. At the time of writing, their glamping tents do not allow dogs.
It’s always best to check which rooms at each location allow pets as sometimes not all rooms in a property and the rules can change!
This Texas Alpine Coaster Is An Essential Hill Country Experience
Located on Lake Bastrop, GLAT Austin offers luxury safari-style tents that sleep 3-6 guests, depending on the tent you choose ($10 off at Hipcamp for new users). They also have some cabins that have their own private hot tubs, among other amenities like a fireplace that every room on the property has.
Mystic Quarry in Canyon Lake, TX is the perfect place to stay if you want to go tubing in the summer! Their accommodations range from tiny houses, teepees, tents, and cabins to campsites and tent sites (get $10 off Hipcamp for new users). You can relax by the pool, go tubing on the nearby Guadalupe River, catch a concert at the Whitewater Amphitheater, or spend the day at Canyon Lake.
If you filter by pets allowed, you’ll see that they have a variety of options for dogs, such as their safari lodges (my personal favorite), their premium lodges, and some of the cabins.
One of my favorite things about Mystic Quarry? They are located on 10 acres with fun amenities like beach volleyball, lawn games, community pool, walking trails, petanque courts, dog pond and dog parks and more. You can read more about their dog policy here.
