Follow VT 100 north of Stowe 2 miles to Randolph Road. Turn right and follow for 0.5 miles. Turn right onto Moss Glen Falls Road and follow it 0.5 miles to a small parking lot.
It’s a short but hike to a beautiful waterfall. Although the path is not well marked, the path is clear. We followed the stream upstream to the waterfall. Be careful at the falls, as the debris along the way can be slippery and dangerous. Inexperienced climbers should stay on the upper left side of the falls. This trail connects to a larger snowmobile trail, so be careful not to go wrong.
From the Trapp Family Lodge, follow Route 100 North to Moscow Road. Turn right onto Moscow Road, then left onto Cottonbrook Road. Follow it about two miles to the Cotton Brook entrance to Mount Mansfield State Forest. Parking is on the right. The route starts from the red door. Loop through some old farms and offer views of the reservoir and the Bolton Range. (If you see a moose, have fun, but keep a safe distance.)
Dog Friendly Activities
From Trapp Family Lodge, Trapp Hill to Loose Hill Rd. Go to the bottom of Loose Hill and turn left. From there it’s about nine miles to the Long Trail parking lot at the top of Notch Road. There is a parking lot to the left and right. The road is on the right. The trail to the pond is on the Sterling Pond Trail. You can make a loop at the pond by following the Elephant Head Trail, but be sure to return to the Sterling Pond Trail to descend back to the trailhead.
You can make the loop more challenging by taking the long trail up from Trail 108 and backing up the Sterling Pond Trail, then hiking up Trail 108. There are great views of Sterling Pond (over 3,000 feet). For more information, see the Long Trails Guide.
From Trapp Family Lodge, take Trapp Hill Road to Loose Hill Road. Vt. Take Loose Hill Road to 108 Vt. Turn right on 108. Turn left on Vt-100 N (0.1 mile). At the third intersection, take a right onto School Street and a slight right onto Stowe Hollow Road. Make a slight left to stay on Stowe Hollow Road. Continue onto Upper Hallow Road and park in the small car park. The Stow Pinnacle Trail is relatively short but steep and offers views of the Green Mountains to the west – including Camel’s Hump, Bolton Range, Nebraska Notch, Mount Mansfield, Sterling Mountain Range and Worcester Range. To the southeast you can see Mount Hogback, which can be reached by the Hogback Trail.
From Trapp Family Lodge, take Trapp Hill Road. onto Loose Hill Rd. Go down Loose Hill Road and turn left. After about a mile, turn right onto Edson Hill Road. Turn right on Edson Hill and pass the Stowhof Inn entrance. Take the next turn on the right and park in the parking lot. Looking for a dog friendly hotel in New England? In addition, you can dine in one of the five restaurants on site. Dogs are not allowed in the dining room, but they are welcome to eat with you outside in the Red Mill rest area. Fall Dog Friendly Guide To Stowe, Vermont — Hellorubydoodle
Field Guide Lodge in Stowe is an elegant boutique hotel managed by Lark Hotels. As with most properties, our pet policy allows dogs under 70 pounds for an additional fee of $50 per dog per day. We stayed in one of the three dog-friendly cabin suites, which have a nice location and a private outside entrance. You can book this apartment online, just remember to add a note at checkout with the dog’s measurements, size and name. Dogs cannot be left alone in guest rooms. Out of respect for other guests, leashed dogs are only allowed on the hotel’s veranda and outside common areas.
The hotel is famous for its elegant and beautiful furnishings. The lobby lounge, decorated with a retro wood-burning stove and cozy fur throws, invites you to linger over a book or a board game. You can have breakfast in the café in the lobby or enjoy drinks and small snacks in the new vintage après ski bar. You have to reserve the outdoor hot tub in advance, which is a bit inconvenient. But the benefits will surely come your way. And the location can’t be beat. We can walk to the city center and the mountain bus stops in front of the hotel. It’s the perfect base for you and your pup’s Vermont adventures.
The Inn at Mountain View Farm is a special place to stay in the heart of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. Per our pet policy, dogs are allowed in select rooms for an additional $50 per night: Peacham, Danville, N.Y. Danville, Maidstone, Lost Nation. You can choose the “Pet Friendly” option to book a room online. The inn is very pet-friendly, with a friendly golden retriever working at the front desk and even an animal sanctuary. Be careful if your dog reacts to other animals!
We stayed in a Deluxe Peacham room which was homey but comfortable. Roscoe especially likes to sleep in front of the wood stove. In the morning, we were waiting in the main building of the inn with pastries and hot coffee from the bakery. Just when we thought we couldn’t take it anymore, the innkeeper brought us his famous pancakes with fresh blueberries. We can’t deny it.
