There is nothing better than watching our four-legged friends wagging their tails and rolling around in the sand on the beach. That’s why there are three dog-friendly beaches in the area; Bombo Beach, Jones Beach and Werri Beach. All these beaches have roped off areas so your little one can run around freely. If your dog likes water, he may also like to splash and swim at the beach. Please remember that dogs are only allowed to stretch from sunrise to sunset and must be on a leash when entering these areas.

Bombo Beach – Bombo is a great beach to run your dog on the beach. Note that your dog can only be in the middle of the beach, so be sure to keep him in that area; If you are not sure, just follow the signs on the beach.

Werri Beach – Located on Pacific Avenue, the Werri Beach off-leash area is in a great location opposite the Surf Club, Bowling Club and Werri Beach Holiday Park. As with the off-leash area at Bombo Beach, your dog can only be in the middle of the beach, so follow the signs to make sure your dog is in the correct area.
Jones Beach (Southern End) – Located between the Minamura Headland and the Basalt Columns of Cathedral Rocks. The landing area is located at the south end of Jones Beach. Please note that entry and exit is only permitted via the beach access path.
Bring your best friend to one of the dog-friendly grassy areas where they can run free without worry. A friendly reminder to follow the signs and always keep your tent in the designated areas. Always remember to take them too!
Black Head Reserve, Gerroa – accessible from Stafford Street or Headland Drive in Gerroa. Enjoy stunning views of Seven Mile Beach and the Pacific Ocean with your furry friend. This area is open 24/7, so enjoy it any time of the day.

Bombo Headland and Dog Agility Park – Best accessed from the car park at the north end of Bombo Beach, the agility park gives your four-legged friends a chance to let loose and test their skills on dog agility equipment.
Gerringong Headland – Located off Tasman Drive and a short drive from Werri Beach Rock Pool and Marina. Enjoy the large deck area with stunning views of the ocean and coastline. Here, the whale-watching platform is an ideal place to see whales migrating south with their calves from May to November.
Kaleula Headland Reserve – This headland is accessible via Gwingana Avenue and is a short distance from Kendal Beach. This area offers beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean and uninterrupted views to the north of the lighthouse.
Marsden Head – Located a short walk south of Kaleula Head Nature Reserve. This headland is accessible via Tingara Crescent and overlooks the East Coast. As an added bonus, it’s also home to Little Blowhole!

Minnamurra Headland – Located between Jones Beach and the mouth of the Minnamurra River on Eureka Avenue. This huge area is perfect for letting the dog run while you enjoy a leisurely stroll with stunning views.
If you’re interested in making the most of our pet-friendly coastline, the Coast Walk is a great choice. The entire route (over 20 km!) is suitable for dogs as long as they are on a leash. Some beaches don’t allow dogs, so check the signs or just cross the road back if you’re not sure. Follow the guide above for dog-friendly beaches.

Kendalls on the Beach Holiday Park – This intimate holiday park has everything you need. The picturesque bay offers the perfect location for a fun family vacation or a romantic weekend getaway. Your dog is welcome anywhere that is active and passive outside of school holidays and long weekends in New South Wales. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on Kendal Beach. However, it’s only a five-minute drive from Kaleula Headland if you’re looking for the nearest area.
Bombo Hideaway – This one bedroom cabin is a cute and cozy granny flat overlooking Bombo Beach. If you’re on a couple vacation and want to bring your pet, Bombo Hideaway is a great option. Please note that they only accept small pets, so be sure to call before booking. Bombo Beach is conveniently located just steps from the front door.
Saddleback Grove: Located on beautiful Saddleback Mountain, this home offers panoramic views of the countryside and coastline. Guests can relax in the outdoor spa overlooking the ocean or by the fireplace. They also provide dog beds for use during your stay; Your pup is sure to be pampered here.

Seven Mile Beach Holiday Park – on the beach! Pets can enjoy family holidays in powered and non-powered areas outside NSW school holidays. This property is a water lover’s paradise, located close to the river and the beach. Unfortunately, Seven Mile Beach is not a dog-friendly beach; However, the Black Head Nature Reserve is only a few minutes’ walk away.
Surf Beach Holiday Park – Overlooking the main beach, this holiday park is family friendly and always fun. Your dog is welcome anywhere that is active and inactive outside of school holidays and long weekends in New South Wales. Unfortunately Surf Beach is not dog friendly, but Kaleula Headland and Marsden Headland are just a short walk away. Or walk into town and spend some time at our dog-friendly cafe!
