Dog Friendly Weekend Trips From Nyc
Burlington, Vermont is one of the most dog-friendly places in New England. Burlington has great downtown events and restaurants, a theater for downtown movie theaters. You will find many fun things to do with your dog. Bike the Burlington Greenway along the shores of Lake Champlain, then stop for a local beer at one of the city’s many bars. Burlington breweries such as Foam Brewers and Zero Gravity Craft Brewery, which allow home brews, and Switchback Brewing Co. They also allow dogs indoors. Church Street Market, one of New England’s most popular pedestrian (and dog) markets, has dog-friendly food and shopping. For the perfect pet-friendly stay, Made Inn offers a cozy bed and breakfast near downtown Vermont, a cozy home away from home for you and your dog.
When it’s dog summer, there’s no better place to stay with your dog than Cape Cod! Kiel Cod is the perfect summer destination for people and dogs alike. You will really enjoy visiting Cape Cod National Seashore. Beaches and trails with sun-kissed sand allow dogs to run even during high season. Afterwards, quench your thirst at Provincetown Brewing Company. They are dog lovers (and socially conscious) who have a dog house in the beer garden that says “I eat racist.” There are also places to stay on the Cape. Pack your backpack at the Chatham Tiger Inn Resort or try to “get rough” with your dog at Nixon State Park Campground.
Cape Cod National Seashore is one of the many reasons to visit Cape Cod with your dog.
For a beach escape with your dog, check out Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Just five miles south of Portland, it’s a great place to get away from it all without going off the beaten path. At the southern end of Fort Williams State Park, home of the famous Portland Lighthouse, there is a large grassy area where dogs can run and play. Of course, you can’t leave without trying a Maine lobster roll, and Maine Bite has an outdoor food truck with welcoming picnic tables in the park. Higgins Beach is a popular place for kids to splash in the sand and splash in the water. After a long day of fun in the sun, Inn by the Sea is a relaxing beachside retreat that offers delicious meals for pets and owners alike.
East Coast Destinations For A Family Friendly Getaway This Fall
You and your dog will love exploring Nantucket together. This small island off the coast of Cape Cod lacks the lights and many charms of New England. When you get off the boat, you’ll see pet owners, and Nantucket is clearly a welcoming place for moviegoers. Choose from dog-friendly activities, from the Sconset Bluff Walk to exploring the old lighthouse. There are plenty of dog-friendly spots in town, including Black-Eyed Susan’s Breakfast Spot and Quigg’s American Bistro. Stay some time at the cozy Bed and Breakfast Brass Lantern Inn, which welcomes four-legged friends in select rooms for a nominal fee.
This dog-friendly town is in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. Known as the Ski Capital of the East, Stow attracts visitors from near and far to the world-class region. But with so many outdoor activities at every turn, Stowe is a great place to relax with your dog.
For the more adventurous, Smuggler’s Notch State Park offers miles of trails through lush green mountains. For something a little more low-key (but a lot of fun), you and your dog will love a walk along the Stowe Recreational Trail. This 11 km paved road is lined with restaurants and bars. There are also dog-friendly places to stay in the area for every budget. Trapp Family Lodge, Tapnoch Resort, and luxury resorts located in Spruce Peak offer creature comforts. If you’re looking for something less expensive, consider staying at a field guide lodge or lodge with your dog.
