Dog Friendly Travel Guide – Kyle and I love to travel, and our new pups Finn and Pippin are excited to find the perfect pet friendly place for our family of four. I have traveled with dogs before, but in new situations they are fierce and anxious. We couldn’t walk on busy roads or drive to busy places, so we mostly stayed in Airbnbs when we traveled. We also have an instinct to love and trust ourselves and take care of our dogs. But bringing Finn and Pippin into our family as dogs, we had the opportunity to train and socialize them from an early age. They are friends and fun with other dogs, so we decided to book the first four-legged family vacation in the city we know and love and is known to be a pet place: Savannah!
Savannah, Georgia offers a variety of pet-friendly hotels and Airbnbs, dog-friendly restaurants and patios, and pet-friendly shops and tours. (Be sure to check out my Complete Savannah Travel Guide and What to Wear in the Savannah Guide for more information.) The purpose of the city itself is to be dog-friendly, with shady streets, sidewalks, and wide Forsyth Park, built for w-a-l-ks. Additionally, wildlife-friendly hiking trails at Skidaway Island State Park and Wormsloe Historic Site are only a short drive away. Maybe you’re trying to find a fun, pet-friendly city for your vacation home. Maybe you’re planning a trip to Savannah, but wondering if you should bring the dogs. We hope that answers some of your questions and gives you another reason to love Hostia City: it’s warm and welcoming to our four-legged friends!

A Guide To Pet Friendly Vacations In Every State
Savannah’s popular downtown area has a walkability rating of 90/100. Once you park your car in the living room, you and your child can access almost everything the city has to offer on foot. Savannah has a wide variety of friendly accommodations available, from commercial hotels to historic shops to Airbnb apartments and homes. Remember that most hotels and guesthouses require dogs to be allowed while you are away if they allow dogs in the rooms. You’ll have more flexibility with vacation rentals and vacation rentals, but be sure to read Airbnb’s specific home policies carefully.
I like to live in the area near the Colonial Park cemetery, because you are in the middle, almost halfway between the river border of the former border to the north and Forsyth Park, the border to the south. Some of my favorite pubs are a few blocks from Bull Street, and you’re close to Broughton Street shopping. The Perry Lane Hotel (rates from $314/night) offer a luxury experience with elegant amenities, fine dining, and spacious rooms. Old DeSoto Savannah (rates from $209/night) is nearby and offers cheaper lodging and lodging. If you’re looking for exceptional hotel service, the Hamilton Turner Inn (from $361/night) in Lafayette Square is one of Savannah’s favorite hotels.
If you want to stay closer to River Street, check out the popular East Bay Inn (from $239/night). I have stayed here many times over the years and it is the perfect combination of hotel and guest house. The Thunderbirds Bird Inn (rates from $112/night) is located to the west and offers affordable lodging that reviews go above and beyond to accommodate our four guests. Basically you are still in the old quarter. as in most places you are looking for a long walk.
I’ve stayed at a few Airbnbs in the city over the years. We want the Airbnb map feature and a “Pet Friendly” filter to target areas we like and amenities available there. Note that many Airbnbs charge cap fees and cleaning fees on top of the nightly price, so the total price may be higher than the initial price. For us, the pet fees from the kennels are the same as what they charge to board our dogs at home (about $50 per pet per night), so it doesn’t cost more than the other one. Even when bringing dogs, it’s more of a question if we want to sign up for a dog trip than a relaxed trip. Because we have one, not two haha.
Pet Friendly Travel Destinations: Exploring The World With Your Furry Companion
The best pet-friendly (and free!) activities to enjoy in Savannah are walks through the park’s 21 markets. The old area in each of the points and squares in the enclosure. Each square is like its own theme, marked by a unique lime, fountain, gazebo or garden. It is a beautiful walk as you will see the landmarks along the way
Office In addition, we will inevitably come across shops, restaurants and museums that we will stop at or plan to explore after the trip. You can also walk your dog in Forsyth Park’s Colonial Cemetery and Gardens. There are trash cans in the cemetery for your dog’s poop to drop off, and a water fountain on the grounds where you can fill up a stone water bottle between walks.
Although the river and streets of Brocton are pet friendly, I would be wary of those areas when walking dogs because of traffic and foot traffic. The streets and sidewalks are very busy and can excite some dogs. Especially on River Street, many restaurants have patios right on the sidewalk and many people walk by. All this is to say that dogs and streets have restaurants and shops, but you and dogs have strong crowds and many distractions.
Savannah is known for its trucks and walking tours. They cover a bit of history, think of a bit of restaurant culture about every movie that’s been filmed there and often have some personal guidebook advice. There is a tour for every taste: history, food, architecture, art and culture, spiritual tours, bar crawls and more. There are a wide variety of dogs and cats to choose from.
A Guide For Your Dog Friendly Boat Trip 🚤 / Petspyjamas
Oliver Bentley’s Historic Dog Walking Tour is a treasure trove. You will meet other tourists and children on a walk along the historic road, a complete story, a photo in front of the fountain in Forsyth Park, and games in their room. Your children will also take home a unique gift of homemade Oliver Bentley cookies. We loved this trip – as did our dogs – and highly recommend it. Afterwards they go crazy.
Old Savannah Tours brings in historic guided tours and welcomes small dogs to sit on a person’s lap for the duration of the trip. Savannah Vehicle Tours accepts dogs in private cars, and small dogs can be accommodated on the tours. If you want to visit Bonaventure Cemetery with your dog, consider booking a tour with Savannah Cruzero, which offers a golf cart tour of the cemetery. And while most beaches on Tybee Island are dog-free, Captain Theodore’s Dolphin Adventure draws you into the water for some great wildlife viewing.
Diana does not allow dogs to dine indoors, but many restaurants allow dogs on their patios. You won’t have to sacrifice good food for a dog-friendly meal in Savannah, because you can experience the best the city has to offer at patio restaurants: fresh seafood, southern country cooking, soul food, etc. your stomach needs it. . Another reason to book the Oliver Bentley History Dog Walking Tour is that they offer a free dog walking tour of downtown Savannah. This is a small help that we have dealt with many times on our journey. We have specific places we want to check out every day and just check the paper to see which restaurants in the area are dog friendly and bring pooches.
The Public and Collins Quarter are two of the favorite restaurants in Savannah, and both have dog-friendly patios. They offer fresh southern cuisine, great white wine, and great service. It is located near the Bull Street tunnel, so there is very little traffic passing through these restaurants. I visited Collins Fourth with two dogs and a staff brought a bowl of water and stopped to give him a lot of attention.
