Beautiful pool and garden with easy access to shower. My dogs and I had a great time! The steps in the shallow end were dog and human friendly. I will definitely be back for more swims.
Pet Friendly Cruises With Your Canine Crew And City Cruises
This was our first experience and it was perfect! For the first time in weeks, the dogs returned home tired, but not exhausted by the heat. Thank you for sharing your beautiful place with us – we will be back soon!
Simply amazing! Clean, quiet, peaceful. Perfect for introducing two dogs to the water. The koi pond and the sound of a bullfrog nearby added to our excitement. Thank you very much, dear host.
My friends and I had a lot of fun here with our dogs. The lawn was perfect for the dogs to run and play, and my friends and I relaxed at the pool. We will definitely be back this summer.
This pool and backyard are great! An added bonus is that they are dog friendly! I really enjoyed our dog trips this summer!

We spent most of our time in the old town, a lovely walkable area full of museums, restaurants and great shops. Charlie doesn’t feel at home because of the dog bowls on King Street and the dogs around every corner. A free tram runs along King Street, a one-mile walk (or trolley…) through the Old Town, lined with over 200 private restaurants and boutiques.
To get started, visit VisitAlexandriaVA.com or the Alexandria Visitor Center at 221 King Street in the heart of Old Town, where you’ll find plenty of tips and be happy to help you plan the perfect trip. You can get a $15 ($49) city museum pass key and complimentary passes to the Alexandria Black History Museum, Carlyle House Historical Park, Friendship Defense Museum, George Washington Masonic Memorial Observation Deck, Lee-Fendall. House Museum and Gardens, Staller-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum, Gadsby’s Tavern Museum and Lyceum: Alexandria History Museum, as well as 40% off the George Washington Mount Vernon coupon. Definitely call ahead to check if museums are pet-friendly, but if Charlie is in the bag, we had no problem with anything listed below.
There are 18 publicly prohibited dog parks in Alexandria (not counting private additions), and while I haven’t been to all of them, I definitely recommend Founders Park on the waterfront/harbor in Alexandria (it’s a must-see). Overlooking the Potomac River, it’s a great place to walk the trails or run on the grass with your dog. You can book a boat tour with The Potomac Riverboat Company, which offers a variety of cruises, including a 60-minute dog-friendly cruise on select dates from May through September. If you fancy a picnic in the park, we highly recommend the Community Fair and Windmill Hill Park.
Dog Friendly Restaurants In Alexandria Va
If you’re looking for a great, pet-friendly seafood restaurant on the water, Vol’s Dockside Grill is located in Alexandria Harbor, across from the Torpedo Factory Arts Center, and is a great place to sit outside and watch the boats go by. In the pool.
This former World War II munitions factory opposite Alexandria Harbor now houses the studios of 82 artists. It’s a wonderful showcase of local art galleries where you can buy art from oil paintings, pottery to jewelry, and dogs of all sizes are welcome! Personally, I love creative spaces like this and think they bring a lot of energy to the communities they are a part of. Entry is free especially when they are open to the public (including for dogs).
Any place where poison and dragon’s blood are stored in a late 18th century cabinet is worth a visit. Located in the old town from 1792 to 1933, the visitor center houses a fully preserved family-owned apothecary and distillery. Even the contents of the items are original!
Carlyle House is a historic mansion owned by wealthy businessman John Carlyle. You can visit John Carlyle’s 1753 home, which served as the center of Alexandria’s 18th-century social and political scene. It used to be the waterfront, but we discovered that a few blocks ago the area near the water had been filled in and widened. Also, most of the children seemed to have not yet reached puberty.
Alexandria, Virginia Is For Dog Lovers
At 480 King Street in Old Town, on the same street as the Visitor Center and Market Row, the location couldn’t be more perfect! This charming boutique hotel impresses with its modern design and comfortable rooms. Named after the city’s founders, John and Philip Alexander, the lobby lounge welcomes guests throughout the day with velvet turquoise sofas and complimentary coffee and tea. The best part is that Mega is pet friendly, which as most of you dog owners know, means an extra $100-150 fee, but Alexandria charges $25 to bring your fur baby!
We were only in the city for 2 days, although I admit there is a lot to discover outside of the old city. There was so much to do and so many attractions, restaurants and shops in the old town that I didn’t want to rush my time, but there were two worthwhile visits:
Visit George Washington’s home at 3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway in Mount Vernon, Virginia, 8 miles from Old Town. Easy to reach by car, boat or bike. Dogs are welcome on site (not just inside), and they host a dog-friendly 25km First President’s Dog-to-Dog Walk on select Saturdays from April to June and from September to October. Today they live on this property. Site admission is $20 (40% off Cay to City Museum ticket and $7 per person for walk-in admission).
